Tibetan
Tibetic languages are a group of mutually and non-mutually intelligible languages within the Sino-Tibetan language group. They hold official status in China, Tibet and Nepal.
It is estimated that there are over 200 Tibetan dialects. Of these, Standard Tibetan, based on the variety spoken in Lhasa, is the most widely spoken. Tibetan is most similar to Burmese.
Tibetan has some unusual occupations; a sunba is someone who looks after irrigation canals and a gardziiba is an astrologist or a person in charge of the cups and dishes during parties.
