20 year anniversary
Insights
Twenty. Years. Old.
We’re officially the age where we can say things like “back when source files arrived on a fax and ‘the cloud’ was just weather” while nodding sagely and sipping our tea. We’ve earned it. We’re leaning in.
For those keeping score at home: twenty years is 240 months, roughly 1,043 weeks, and approximately 7,300 days of translating, interpreting, localising, project managing, deadline-wrangling, and collectively holding our breath every time a large file decides it doesn’t want to upload.
That’s a lot of coffee. A lot of “just checking in on this one” emails. And an almost supernatural number of jobs described as “urgent but totally straightforward” that turned out to be neither.
But here’s the thing. We wouldn’t change a single moment of it.
Because twenty years in this industry teaches you something: language is never just words on a page. In life sciences, it can be a matter of life and death. In technical documentation, it’s the difference between a product that works and one that doesn’t. The craft matters. And craft is something you only get better at with time.
What twenty years actually means (underneath all the deadlines and the CAT tools and the late-night turnarounds) is twenty years of people. Clients who trusted us. Linguists who delivered for us. Our brilliant team who showed up, every single time. And technology that occasionally drove us to distraction but mostly, genuinely, made us better.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing a few stories from the journey: the highlights, the head-scratchers, and maybe one or two miracles we’ve pulled off.
Whether you’ve been with us since day one, joined us somewhere along the way, or you’ve only just discovered that Geo Language Services exists: you’re exactly who we’re talking to.
Here’s to twenty years. And everything still to come.
