Galician
Galician is a Romance language spoken by about 4 million people as a native language in Galicia, an autonomous community in Spain. It holds an official status in Galicia alongside Castilian (Spanish). Although spoken in Spain, Galician is linguistically closer to Portuguese than Spanish.
In July 2003, the Royal Galician Academy began to allow the introduction of Portuguese spellings to the language. In the words of the Galician Language Academy, these changes represent “the orthography desired by the majority of Galician people”.
At Geo Language Services, our translations respect the language’s unique characteristics, ensuring effective and culturally appropriate communication with Galician-speaking communities.
